2025 marks the 350th anniversary of the Royal Observatory, Greenwich.
Historic home to Greenwich Mean Time and the Prime Meridian of the World, the Royal Observatory is one of the most important scientific sites in the world.
Royal Mint are marking this historic anniversary with a beautiful new UK £2 coin!
The coin pays tribute to the Royal Observatory with a reverse design that features the Shepherd Gate Clock, the constellation Ursa Minor, the star Polaris and the meridian line in front of a globe. The coin also includes the edge inscription ‘PERFECTING THE ART OF NAVIGATION’.
