2011 Olympics Archery 50p Uncirculated Coin
Issued as one of the 29 Olympic 50p designs to commemorate the games in London 2012. Each 50p features a different Olympic sport.
The Archery 50p was designed by Piotr Powaga - a keen caligrapher from Yorkshire. He asked his wife to model the action of pulling a bow so he could capture the dynamic moment before the fingers are released.
Archery became an official Olympic sport at the 1900 Paris Summer Olympics and an official Paralympic sport at the 1960 Summer Paralympics in Rome.
